New year, new start - Sweet Stampin'

Hello all,

Time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week our theme is new year/new start.

I dug up a really fab TPS image for my card, as I thought they looked pretty glamorous, and could definitely be attending a new year's party...

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I added some lovely sparkle to the black dress. I rather think I'd like one just like it one day. And probably an excuse to wear it would be good too, lol!

Well, it's over to you guys. Come and share your new start cards with us! This will be a two week challenge, so in the meantime, whatever you do or don't celebrate over the next few weeks, I hope you have a lovely time surrounded by loved ones.

Have a fantabulous festive season!

Christmas Challenge - The Paper Shelter

Morning all!

It's time for our Christmas anything goes challenge over at The Paper Shelter! This will be a 3 week challenge, instead of the usual one week, so you'll have lots of time to play with us!

For my card, I chose the awesome Santa's family selfie digi. It's such a fun image, and really made me chuckle.

Paper, ribbon, gems and a Tim Holtz sentiment finish it off :)

So now it's your turn! Come and play with us over at The Paper Shelter, and you could win an amazing $30 gift voucher if you use an image from The Paper Shelter. And if you enter with a different brand image, you can still win three TPS digis of your choice (which you can then use to enter the next challenge, and so be eligible for the $30 voucher!).

Hope you have a fantabulous day!

Morning all,

Time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' this week, and as we're now in December, this will be a two week challenge! Our theme is a very useful Christmas, so there should be plenty of last minute cards that will fit beautifully, so why not come and play along?

My card features, unsurprisingly, a TPS image.

Doesn't she look glamorous? And I want a coat like that!

Well, it's over to you guys. Looking forward to seeing your makes!

The paper Shelter birthday Blog Hop!

Good Morning fellow crafters and welcome to The Paper Shelter Blog Hop and this is in celebration of their reaching their 9th Birthday on December 8th. It will be a two week Challenge and both Design Teams are taking part.

The Hop is our way of inviting you to join in with us and this one is a  "BIRTHDAY/ CELEBRATIONS" theme, which I know is extremely popular!!!! If you have landed here from Isabelle's blog then you're heading in the right direction - if not then you'll want to head on back to The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog to start again, as you'll not want to miss out on this one! Our Design Teams have worked very hard and are showcasing the gorgeous images available from The Paper Shelter Website and each blog on the hop is offering one lucky commentor a digi of their choice as well as the main prize, details of which are on The Paper Shelter Challenge Blogspot.

For my card, I chose one of my favourite images, Coquette, and paired her with some pretty papers to make this:

If you love this digi as much as I do, you really want to take a look at the Chic Bundle, as the rest of the digis in there are equally gorgeous! They are soooo lovely to colour!

From here you will need to hop on over to Patty Sue's blog. Don't forget to leave your comment for a chance of winning your choice of one of the fab digi's available in store.
Hop! Hop! Hop!
Good luck and hope you're enjoying it so far.

Have a fantabulous day!

Pop of Red - Sweet Stampin'

Hello all,

New challenge time over at Sweet Stampin', and this week we'd like to see a pop of red on your creations. But it also happens to be Sweet Stampin's 10th birthday this month, so we'd also love to see any celebration creations, if that's a theme you'd prefer!

I went with the pop of red, and got another of those pesky Christmas cards out of the way...

We really hope you'll come celebrate with us!

Christmas cards - The Paper Shelter

Good morning all!

It's time for a new challenge over at The Paper Shelter, and if you're anything like me, you're woefully behind with your Christmas cards. If so, our Christmas card theme should be a good incentive, no?

I used the gorgeous The Turkey is Ready for my card. I really love the retro look of this one, and thought some spotty paper would be a perfect match for her!

I'm very much looking forward to Christmas. It'll be a big family affair, with my parents, grandfather, brothers and of course my own little family. Unfortunately though, my daughter can't get time off from her new job over Christmas, so this will be the first Christmas she's not celebrated with us :(

Bright and beautiful - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

Yes, it's that time again! New challenge time at Sweet Stampin', and this week we'd like your creations to be Bright and Beautiful!

Well, it took the theme very literally this week, so when I say bright, I mean get your sunglasses ready folks!

Don't say I didn't warn you! lol.

I paired the image from The Paper Shelter with some papers from Trimcraft, and dug out some of my very brightest Promarkers.

Now it's over to you! Come and share your bright creations with us (ok, they don't have to be quite as bright as this!), we'd love for you to come and play along!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

A Card for a child - The Paper Shelter

Good morning all,

It's time for a new challenge over at The Paper Shelter this morning, and we have an easy theme for you this week: A card for a child.

For my card, I chose the super sweet Pictures of my lil' sister and teamed it up with some First Edition papers. I love the fresh colours of those papers, and thought they worked great for a card for a young boy.

I know when I was a young girl I always wanted a big brother (and no, two little ones does not work out as one big one!), and figured there were going to be loads of little girls out there that worshiped their older brothers. (I have another charity craft fair coming up soon, so here's hoping one of them finds my table! lol)

Celebrations/bonfire night - Sweet stampin'

Hello all,

There's a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week we're celebrating Bonfire night! So sparkles, fireworks, bonfires and all those fun things. Of course, if you find the theme too tricky, you can go for the celebrations theme instead!

It was bonfires for me, as I thought this brilliant image from The Paper Shelter was perfect for a dinner invitation I was making!

I mean seriously... How brilliant is that image!? It really made me LOL!

I hope you will join us this week, and don't forget the penny for the Guy... ;)

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Halloween/Black and orange - Sweet Stampin'

(apologies for messing up the scheduling again! Grrrr)

Morning all, it's time for another challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week's theme is Halloween, or use black and orange.

I decided to use one of the most recent digis from The Paper Shelter, and made this:

I just love her!

Now it's over to you. looking forward to seeing your spooky makes this week!

Halloween - The Paper Shelter

Good morning all,

Time for a new challenge over at The Paper Shelter, and it will probably come as no surprise that the theme this week is Halloween. I have actually spent the past couple of days making goodie bags for the neighbourhood kiddies, but still have sooooooo many to do! (we usually get between 50-150 trick-or-treaters!)

In the meantime, I used the gorgeous My adorable little witch and Matching with Halloween papers to make a card for my neighbour (who is completely Halloween nuts!) A couple of added die-cuts give it just the right spooky feel, I think.

I really love this image, and she was so much fun to colour! The digi papers are just gorgeous too.

Feature a creature - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all!

Ohhhh, this week's challenge over at Sweet Stampin' is a really fun one! The theme is Feature a Creature, so think animals, or Halloween, or fantasy, or... well, there are so many things that could be considered "creatures"!

I went with a dragon! because dragons are fun. I also love this digi from The Paper shelter, and this was a perfect excuse to use it :)

Along with some fab First Edition papers and a LotV sentiment, I think my "creature" is pretty fun. I mean, a meditating dragon? Love it!

Now it's over to you guys!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Autumn Colours - Sweet Stampin'

Good morning all!

Time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week we're going with the ever fun colours of autumn theme!

I think I already mentioned this recently, but I just love playing with autumn colours, so for my card I broke out the Distress inks and a lovely stamp from Art by Marlene and made a card with lovely autumnal colours.

I'm not usually a big fan of colouring animals, but this fox was really fun to work with!

Now it's over to you guys. we hope you'll come play with us!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Music and dance - The Paper Shelter

Good morning folks!

Time for another new challenge at The Paper Shelter, and this week's theme is Music and Dance.

For my card, I used this gorgeous digi called The Music Practice, It was one of the first ones I owned, and I thought she really looked like my daughter's best friend. The young lady in question likes to dye her hair unusual colours, so I used that as inspiration for colouring her.

I didn't have the colour I wanted for her clothes, but in the end managed to get the effect I wanted by blending a blue and a pink together. The photo hasn't quite picked up the subtleties of the blend that you can see in person, but I will definitely be using the same combo again, as I LOVE the effect.

Animals - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

Time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week the theme is a very easy animals,

Now I usually prefer people images, but this time I went with one that combines both!

You know, my daughter used to have a toy worm/caterpillar type creature when she was a baby. She called it Wriggles. Then at about 1 1/2 she chose herself a pink teddy when out shopping in town, which she named Cuddles. Wriggles has long since been abandoned, but Cuddles still has pride of place by her pillow. Never mind that she's almost 20; some friends you just hang on to!
As far as I can recall she never had an octopus, but still, this digi from The Paper Shelter really brought back memories for me :)

Right, over to you. Come share your animal makes with us this week. We're looking forward to see them!

Have a fantabulous day!

Distressed! - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

New challenge time over at Sweet Stampin', and this week's theme is Distressed!
Now this can be taken a number of ways (go take a peek at the DT inspiration to see what I mean), but it'll probably come as no surprise that I decided to go the shabby route for this one.,

So armed with a LotV sentiment stamp, some Maja design papers and my trusty TH distressing tool, this is what I made:

Flowers and lace and pearls, oh my! The yellow isn't exactly one of my go-to colours, but I have been trying to go outside my comfort zone a bit more recently. either way, I think the yellow works pretty well!

Now it's over to you guys. We hope you'll come and play with us!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Colours of fall - The Paper Shelter

Morning all,

It's time for a new challenge over at The Paper Shelter, and this week's theme is colours of fall (or of course autumn, for those of us that aren't American!).

Now I love, love, love working with autumnal colours, but for some reason I very rarely do, so I'm always glad to have a challenge theme like this to remind me there are other colours in the world besides pink, lol.

I used the gorgeous Autumn attitude for my card this week, but it was a difficult choice, as The Paper Shelter have so many beautiful autumn images to play with. There's even an autumn bundle!

Peace day - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

There's a pretty groovy challenge starting at Sweet Stampin' today, as we're celebrating peace day!

Now I just so happened to have the perfect digi from The Paper Shelter printed out, so this is what I made:

Groovy, no? Some bright floral papers matched her very nicely, I thought.

Over to you guys! Do come and share with us this week!

Have a fantabulous weekend (I know I will, as I'll be off to a used book sale shortly!).

Cards for kids - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all!

New challenge time at Sweet Stampin', and this week we're looking for cards for kids. That should be a pretty easy one, no?

I used the fabby Little Red Riding Hood from The Paper Shelter for my card:

I just love her! Such a great image to use for a little one, methinks.

Over to you guys! Please come share your creations for the younglings with us, and don't forget to go see what my fellow Sweeties have been up to!

Embossing - The Paper Shelter

Good morning all,

It's time for a new challenge over at The Paper Shelter, and this week's theme is Embossing of any kind, so whether you like to use embossing folders, or prefer heat embossing (or maybe you are a clever clogs with an embossing stylus!), we'd love for you to come and join us.

I normally prefer heat embossing, but ever since I discovered the new(ish) Tim Holz 3D Texture Fades, I've been a little addicted to them. My favourite is the foundry one, as it is perfect for industrial/steampunk type effects, but the lumber folder is rapidly catching up...

So, I used the lumber folder for my card today, and teamed it up with the adorable Forest Princess from The Paper Shelter. I chose her because she reminds me of my daughter (again! It's becoming a theme, lol), and decided I may as well get her birthday card out of the way (even though I'm a teensy bit early...)

You may need to click on the image to see the embossing properly as the card I used is very dark. It adds such a lovely bit of texture to it in person though, I was tempted to try and figure out how to emboss enough to use for wallpaper in my bedroom, lol!

Watch out for pirates! - Sweet Stampin'

Good morning all,

A new challenge is just going live now over at Sweet Stampin', and this week we'd like you all to Watch out for pirates! So we're looking for anything nautical (actual pirates optional).

This of course was good news for me, because I love anything nautical, and I simply had to play along with team Wends this week!

For my card I used a super cute image from The Paper Shelter, and teamed her with some gorgeous Maja Design papers. Flowers, pearls and an anchor charm finish the card off just nicely.

Over to you guys. I can't wait to see the entries this week!

Exciting news!

Good morning everyone!

I have some exciting news to share this morning. I have a new DT position, and it's with none other than The Paper Shelter! Anyone who has been following my blog these last few months will know how much I love their digis and can probably guess how very excited I was to be asked to become part of the team!

So, without further ado...

This week's challenge at The Paper Shelter is Back to school.

I used the fab Cool Student for my card, as she reminds me a lot of my daughter when she was in high school (except she doesn't have curly hair... The hat with ears is soooo her though!)

I have to admit I'm rather fond of the purple & mint colour combo, and I am very pleased it photographed well, because I find purple doesn't often come out right.

Pretty in pink - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

Time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin', and this week our theme is Pretty in Pink.

Now I rather like this theme, even if not all my fellow Sweeties agree, lol.

I used a  - big surprise - digi from The Paper Shelter. This one is from my favourite of their bundles. That particular bundle really works well with shabby chic cards, so that's exactly what I made!

Isn't she pretty? One of my (many) favourites so far.

That's it from me this week... Over to you guys. Don't forget to go take a peek at all the pretty pinkness over on the blog!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

I definitely want to take this over to go play at The Paper Shelter, with their Face it! challenge. because her face is the prettiest of all!

I'd also like to play along with A Gem of a challenge's anything goes theme, and at the
Polkadoodles Craft challenge where it is also anything goes.

Wednesday, 21 August 2019

Face it.

Evening all,

Back again to play in the new challenge at The Paper Shelter. Loving the face it theme this week!

First up, I saw this gorgeous digi, and simply had to play with it!

Her name is Rose, and isn't she pretty? I knew just the papers I wanted to pair her with too. They're another set I've had for eons (i.e. since about 2012/13, lol), and they have the distinction of being the only paper pad I've used up in its entirety, and then re-bought because I couldn't bear to be without them. They're such lovely fresh colours, and I think they suit Rose beautifully.

That's it for now. Off to go join the challenge!

Have a fantabulous day!

Punches and dies...

Hello all,

Another entry from me for the punches and dies challenge at The Paper Shelter...

Going through my cards for an upcoming craft fair, I realised I had lots of baby girl cards, but no baby boy ones... that wouldn't do!

The papers and stickers I used here were from a scrapbook set I bought from The Works in 2012, only a couple of weeks after I started crafting. I've still not used it all up yet, but am definitely getting there!

That's it from me. Off to share at TPS, and then bedtime for me!

Have a fantabulous night,

CAS - Sweet Stampin'

Hello all,

So sorry about the late post this week. no excuse, just a leaky brain! We started a new challenge for Sweet Stampin' on Saturday, and the theme this week is Clean and simple.

Now most of you will know this is not my favourite theme. In fact, it tends to rather terrify me if I think about it too much, so instead of thinking, I'll just go ahead and share my card!

Surprisingly, I am actually rather pleased with how it turned out! I would have preferred a larger, fancier sentiment, but I actually have remarkably few of those, and none of them worked. Still, I really love this Kenny K image, and the whole retro feel.

Anyways, enough babbling from me... It's over to you. Please do come play with us this week!

Have a fantabulous day!

Arrr...

Good morning all,

Just a warning... Thar be pirates!

I made a pirate card to join in this week's dies and punches challenge at The Paper Shelter. I just love this image! (Little fun fact: My first ever stamp was a pirate one - from LotV, of course - only that one was a boy with a dog)

I'm also rather in love with this paper, and the anchor die is easily my most used nautical die.

You know, I could do with digging up a box of treasure! Or maybe a box full of stamps? that would be an awesome kind of treasure to find, I think, lol.

Anyways, that's all from me, I'm off to go play at The Paper Shelter :)

Have a fantabulous day!

Mmmmmm cake...

Morning all,

I thought I'd get another quick entry in to The Paper Shelter summer break challenge.

Tell you what though, making this card gave me some serious cravings for an afternoon tea!

I went for a super simple design, with double mats on top of some adorable biscuit paper (not that you can see much of it, lol). I didn't think it needed anything more, as the image says it all.

My son and I are the only ones with a sweet tooth in our house, so when I do go for afternoon tea, he's the one that comes with me. I'm thinking this card would be a good way to invite him along next time :)

That's it from me for today. hope you're all having a fab weekend!

Things with wings - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

This week at Sweet Stampin', we're looking to see some wings on your creations!

I did something a little different for me...

I die-cut a jar out of acetate, and filled it with some flowers, added a couple of punched butterflies, and finished with a stamped birthday sentiment, as the card was going to be for my aunt. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, especially the cute little jar!

Hope you'll strap on some wings and come join us this week! The Sweeties are looking forward to see your creations!

Spots and/or stripes - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

New challenge time over at Sweet Stampin', and this week we're looking for a very easy spots and/or stripes.

As I usually do with this theme, I went for stripes. I do love me a stripe, I do...

A simple layout and a Saturated Canary stamp I've had for aaaaages, but hadn't gotten 'round to using yet.
The stripes in question are from an old LotV paper pad, and I found the pink paper languishing in my off-cuts. I rather liked the colour combination.

Now it's over to you guys, come share your spots and stripes with us this week, and don't forget to go see what my fellow Sweeties have created for you.

August challenge - Altered Eclectics

Morning all,

It's August! And a new month means a new challenge over at Altered Eclectics!

For my DT project this month, I had a play with an MDF tag, and went for a steampunk/industrial look.

I started off with some embossed foil tape, which I aged with distress paints, then embellished and added Finnabair's waxes before finishing with a TH sentiment.
The embellishments are a combination of  Snipart, Mitform, random metal and die-cut gears and an MDF ATCoin from Fernli Designs.

Now it's over to you. Do come and play with us over at Altered Eclectics, where anything altered art/mixed media goes!

Magical - Sweet Stampin'

Good morning my lovelies,

I'm playing along with team Wendy this week at Sweet Stampin', and we have a fab theme for you. We're looking for your magical makes!

I used a gorgeous image of Cinderella and her Godmother from The Paper Shelter (unlike what our Sweetie Chris may think, I haven't bought all their digis yet, but I have bought a lot of their bundles, including the fairy-tale one this is in. after all, what else is a tax rebate for? Teehee!)

I paired her with some scrummy Maja design papers, and decided to go the shabby route for this one. I have to admit, her wishlist made me chuckle... Reminds me of my daughter when she was younger putting her list for Santa together... :D

Well, that's it from me, but don't forget to check out the magic my fellow Sweeties have created over on the blog, and do come play with us, we'd love to see your creations.

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Going retro...

Hello all,

Back with my entry into this week's challenge at The Paper Shelter. I had to have the Retro chic collection when I saw it. I just LOVE those images, and the first I wanted to colour was this fab lady:

Isn't she brilliant? And so much fun to colour. It was loads of fun playing with colours outside my comfort zone too. I mean, orange, yellow and grey? Not my go-to set, I assure you, lol.

Anyways, I'm off to go share at The Paper Shelter in their Anything goes challenge this week :)

Friends - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin, and this week we're looking for friends, to celebrate Friendship day.

So this is what I made:

The image is a Polkadoodles stamp, and the papers are from a pad from The Works that my daughter gave me. The sentiment stamps are of course LotV.
I just love the little spoon, don't you?

Your turn! Make a card for someone special, and share it with us this week!

Summer spirit

Hello everyone,

Back again for this week's entry into The paper Shelter's challenge. This week's theme summer spirit is quite similar to last week's holidays theme, so I decided to go with the same happy, sunny paper pad (while I still had it out, and it wasn't put back right at the back of my cupboard, lol).

This week's image I decided had to be one out of the ice cream collection, because nothing says "summer" more to me than a nice cold ice cream!

Isn't she adorable? And I really, really fancy an ice cream now!
I purposefully didn't add a sentiment, as this is so versatile, and could work for so many different occasions!

Well, that's it from me, off to go share this at The Paper Shelter!

Have a fantabulous day!

Holidays!

Hello all, me again!

Yep, off to play along at The Paper Shelter again. When I saw the theme was holiday time, I was pretty happy, because this awesome image was waiting on my desk to be coloured!

The papers I paired her with are about 6 years old! They are part of a pad that was a magazine freebie, and they immediately came to mind when I saw the digi. Of course, it did mean digging to the very back of my craft cupboard to locate what I still had left of them, but I think it was worth the effort in the end. I just love how cheerful they are!

Right, off I go to enter this in The paper Shelter challenge!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Wonderful women - Sweet Stampin'

Morning all,

I'm playing along with team Wends again at Sweet Stampin' this week, as the theme is wonderful women, and today just happens to be my wonderful mother's birthday!

Now, my mum's firstly a cellist, but she also dabbles a bit with the violin, so when I saw this gorgeous stamp from Crafter's Companion, I knew it was meant to be.

I paired it up with some gorgeous music themed papers from LotV, and added a pretty die-cut corner and a LotV sentiment too.

So that's mine. I hope you'll come and share your makes for the wonderful women in your life with us too.

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Just swinging by with the card I made to enter The paper Shelter's challenge with this week. The theme was to use a digital image, and the hardest part was choosing one! But I figured it was probably about time I started on my Christmas cards for this year, so grabbed this fantastic digi, which made me giggle so much!

I know exactly who I'll be sending this one to!

So now I'm off to go play over at The Paper Shelter, which is totally a legitimate excuse for putting off cleaning the kitchen floor, right? hehe...

Have a fantabulous day!

Add a Button - Sweet Stampin'

*apologies for the lateness, I had this scheduled for tomorrow by mistake!*

Morning all, I hope you're ready for a new challenge? This week we're looking for you to add a button at Sweet Stampin'...

For my card I broke out stencils and ink, and some ribbon, twine and a LotV sentiment stamp, as well as the button, of course!

I've got to admit I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Now it's over to you! We'd love to see some buttons over at Sweet Stampin', but don't forget to use a stamp too!

Have a fantabulous day!

July challenge - Altered Eclectics

Morning all,

It has been summer for just a little over a week in the northern hemisphere, and we actually got a little sun in Leeds for about a day and a half. This may not seem like a big deal to many people, but in Leeds that's something of a minor miracle, lol.
but it's raining again now, and likely to be overcast all week again, so I guess it was fun while it lasted!

Now I had actually planned to make something summer themed for my dt inspiration for Altered Eclectics this month, but guess what..? I was too busy actually enjoying the sun!

So I'm afraid my offering is more spring than summer themed, but hey, maybe next month...

I used a cloth canvas I got in a Craft Box a while ago, and loved the look of. Unfortunately, though they look fab, they're not so great to work with, as the material gives far more than regular canvas or burlap panels do, and it's harder to get things to adhere. But where there's a will, and all that...

For the base, I used a page from The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, layered on some magenta coloured tissue paper. for the focal image I used an image out of the same book and framed it, then covered it in crackle accents (it was originally going to be crazing distress collage medium, but when I opened the tub it was rock solid :(  )
I added die-cuts, flowers, a resin bird in a nest and a sentiment, then finished off by splattering the whole thing with Distress Inks.

All in all, it was rather a lot of fun...

And that was me. Don't forget to go check out the blog, as my fellow teamies have some fab inspiration for you too!

Have a fantabulous day!
