Let it snow!

Hi all,

On my visit to the Harrogate fair last month, I came across the most gorgeous card at the Chloe's Creative Cards stall. It was made by stamping snowflakes onto acetate and heat embossing them after, before assembling them onto a card.
I was in love!  So naturally I immediately bought the snowflake stamps (and the poinsettia die, but that's something else entirely! lol.). And as with all things that MUST be done immediately, it's taken me about 6 weeks to get round to trying the technique, lol.

It was pretty tricky, and I wasted a whole heap of acetate and embossing powder trying to get it to work, but I got there in the end...

I stamped the snowflake twice and layered them. The embossing powder I used was WOW Sparkling Snow, and trust me... Sparkle it does! I stamped the word "Noel" in the corner and gave that the sparkly treatment too. The paper by the way was designed by Jennifer Ellory for a recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft.

Here's a close-up of the gorgeous centre of the snowflake. It's captured the sparkles a little too...

I shall be trying this technique again soon, hoping to perfect it. Because the effect really, really is worth the time and hassle it took to make it!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Creative corner challenges - Let it snow
The Sisterhood of crafters - Embossing

Have a fabulous day, one and all!

Fantabulous card Sammy. I haven't done this technique for years, although I'm sure heat resistant acetate and anti-static bags makes it a little easier (ashamed to say I have both and don't use them!!). The background paper is perfect too! xx

I can imagine how brilliant this must look IRL, Sammy, coz it's stunning on the monitor! How about a step-by-step how-to, maybe after the holidays? I'm not clear on how you would keep the acetate from warping out of control. Hugs, Darnell

lol, yeah I've got a list of techniques I've yet to try and I'm pretty sure some of them are way past the 6 wk mark :). Gorgeous card and that snowflake is simply beautiful. Thanks so much for playing along with us in The Sisterhood of Crafters in our Embossing Challenge.
