Birthday card and bonus candy winner.

Hello my freaky darlings!

(Virtual cookie for whomever can tell me where that line's from. I've been using it for the better part of a decade, and so far only one person got it, lol)

Well today is my eldest child's birthday. She turned 14, which means we're far enough into the moody, smelly hormone phase to have forgotten what it was like before, but not long enough to be able to glimpse any light at the end of the tunnel, lol.
All joking aside, she is my angel and I wouldn't change her for the world.
She is, as many her age are, obsessed with many things, and amongst those obsessions is a serious addiction to computer games. So when I came across this topper from The Hobby House I absolutely had to use it on a card for her!

From the expression on her face to the lopsided hair... This is my daughter to a T!  I hand-cut the card base (don't have any large nesties yet... On the list!) and I used some First edition papers, purple ribbon and a brown button threaded with string. And, because we're talking about a 14 year old girl here, the obligatory purple gems. Gotta have bling, you know!
She loved the card, and actually took it to school with her to show off to her friends.

Speaking of said young lady, she put her hand into her hat (a rather large sombrero, to be precise) and pulled out the winning ticket for my bonus candy draw...

And she picked number...

4 - Annie!  Email me your addy hun, and I'll get you some goodies posted out asap!

Do not worry folks, there will be more candy in the new year!

And one more piece of news... The school fair may have been a disaster, but it led to my first proper commission! As in, this was a request, not from a friend or family member, but from someone who saw my cards and now wants me to make a wedding card for someone!
I'm equal parts excited and terrified! :-)

Now, I think I shall enter this card into the following challenges:

Artistic inspirations - Anything goes/favourite colours (purple! Yay!)
Allsorts - Anything but Christmas
The Hobby House - anything goes with a Hobby House topper
Crafty Ribbons - Spots or stripes (2nd entry)

Be excellent to one another!

Sammy-x
