Morning all,
New challenge time over at Sweet Stampin', and this time it's a two week challenge as the DT get a little time off during December. The theme this week is Anything Christmas/last minute cards.
Now I've only just started on my cards for this year (!), so quick and easy is definitely the way to go. So I decided on a design, and started churning them out over the past couple of weeks.
The design is like so:
I've made about 20 pairs of cards this way (and have gone through a terrifying amount of black card and double-sided tape!), which has at least helped me make a little dent in the ridiculous amount of Christmas charms I own...
The stamp set used is a really fab set of mini stamps from LotV, which are just perfect for doing a blackboard technique with. I just stamped a whole load of them onto a sheet of card with embossing ink, added white embossing powder and embossed them all in one go. Super quick to do it that way, though you do have to work quickly before the ink dries!
I then cut the card and paper, and stuck everything down in batches of two. It'll work with most papers, but I find the traditional red and greens look best.
Of course, after making so many of these, I don't ever want to make another again! lol.
Now it's over to you guys. You know you've forgotten a card or two (or like me, have barely even started), so this is a perfect time for you to have a play and join us for the challenge.
Have a fantabulous day,
Sammy-x

Heat embossing - Sweet Stampin'
Good morning all,
It's Saturday, and you know what that means... Yep, new challenge time over at Sweet Stampin'! this week, our theme is heat embossing.
For my card I re-visited the industrial/chalkboard technique that I loved so much when Sir Tim used it in his 12 tags.
I found it translates pretty well to cards too. especially when said card is for hubby, who is an engineer (couldn't resist the fab embossing folder!) and loves his beer.
I heat embossed the stamp onto black card with white powder, and lightly went over parts of it with a piece of chalk to give it that dusty look that chalkboards often have.
A little bit of black twine finishes it off.
And there it is. Now it's your turn. I hope you'll come play with us this week!
Have an awesomesauce weekend!

Howdy Blogaroos,
Playing along with Sir Tim again this year. Let's hope I'll actually get 'round to posting them all this time. I think last year I managed 3 or 4 (though I made all of them!)
I LOVE, love, love, LOVE this month's tag. I adore the chalkboard technique, and have used it with the blueprint stamps several times already, and I'd been wanting to try embossing with foil tape for soooo long. Lucky for me, hubby had some stashed away, so now I could.
And this is how it turned out:
How cool is that? Apologies to all the males (and probably most of the females) in my life, but you'll probably all get something like this on your birthdays this year. Love it.

That's it from me for now, short and sweet. Have a lovely evening all.
