Focus on the sentiment - Sweet Stampin' DT

And a very good morning to all of you!

I had an oopsie a couple of weeks ago. I'd been so busy preparing for a trip to London for the Country 2 Country festival ( alongside a couple of fellow "sweeties"!), that I plumb forgot to have a card ready for the Sweet Stampin' challenge that week! Shock! Horror!

Suitably mortified at having messed that up, I have doubled my efforts, and have two cards to share for our Focus on the sentiment challenge this week.

Mostly because I made a card that I decided I didn't like and I really, really wanted to have some messy mixed media fun, so I got out my Distress Paints, stencils, texture paste and a whole lot more and made this:

I soooooo enjoyed making this one, and I must admit I'm kinda proud of the flower, which has come out even better than I'd thought it would. I have of course been heavily inspired by the gorgeous work of Kathy, who makes such fantastic mixed media cards and more.

But of course, I decided in the end that there's so much going on, that the lovely LOTV sentiment isn't exactly the "focus" anymore, so figured I'd share the original card too (slightly blurry photo and all, lol), which also happens to sport a LOTV sentiment.

Quite the opposite of the first card, no? lol.

Alrighty then, it's your turn to go have a play around with sentiments and join our challenge this week (There's a Sweet Stampin' goodie bag up for grabs) and do be sure to check out what my fellow Sweeties have created for you. Sooooo much purtiness!

Hope you're having a fab weekend. mine will consist of lots of running around, karate grading for the youngest and all that fun stuff!
Hugs,

Sammy-x

I'd like to enter my mixed media card into the following challenges:

Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge - Girly
A Vintage Journey - anything Tim (loads of fun with distress paints and a couple of Tim's stencils too!)
As you like it - Favourite type of stamp. Rubber for me, easily. It's so much more convenient to use, especially in mixed media and the like. You can stamp over the top of pretty much anything, and onto bulky items that won't fit into a printer either. You can also use part of a stamp, go for second or third generation impressions... The possibilities are endless!

Well done on both of these Sammy... they are both fabulous - as you say, very different in style, but wonderful nevertheless!

I struggle to make a sentiment the focal point.. so you've done really well!

Two very different cards Sammy, the fist one is beautiful with so many fabulous details and your flower is gorgeous.
I do like the simple design of the second one as well, the pink and blue is pretty together.
